The AAUW State Convention is scheduled for April 27-28 in Faribault. With the convention being so close, it wouldn’t be necessary for members to reserve a hotel room. It would also be possible to arrange to carpool for those who attend.Austin can send up to 5 delegates to the convention. There is no limit on the number of members who can attend state convention, but only 5 are official delegates of our branch. If you would like to serve as a delegate, please let Jill or I know by April 10. We will share more information about state convention as it becomes available. A booklet is produced for each state convention that allows branches to highlight what they have been doing and note favorite books their groups have read. If you would like to submit anything for the Branch Hi-lights and Favorite Books submission for state convention, please email your submission to me by March 5. We can submit up to 3 favorite books. Please be sure to include the book title, author, and a short story summary (2-4 sentences) with your submission. I will organize all of your contributions together into the format they request and submit it for publication.
As you all probably know, the Travel Club did NOT meet in January because of bad weather. Therefore, the February Meeting is what we had planned for January. We will be meeting at the home of Ann Odegaard on this Thursday, February 8th, at 1:30 PM. The topic is, “Traveling with Viking River and Cruises”
I hope you can attend. Please let me know via email drgraber@charter.net by Wednesday, February 7th, whether you can or cannot join us…….so that we can give Ann an idea of the number she can expect.
The Travel Club will meet on Thursday, September 21st at 1:30 PM at Kathy Kester’s home. Please meet in front of Joyce Goetz’s home by 1:20 PM. We will then carpool to Kathy’s home……as parking space is limited. Those of us that traveled to Winona will be sharing that experience (thanks to Dorothy) and then we will also plan some future programs and discuss the monthly meeting date.
