Pay Equity in the Workplace. AAUW works for education and advocacy for equal pay for equal work, an issue that continues to plague working women even in the 21st century. Speaker: Dawn Thompson Director of Human Resources at Good Samaritan Homes discusses Pay Equity and how it affects women of all ages. (Sue)

Title IX: Equity in Sports for Women. Speaker: Susie Hebrink, Riverland Basketball coach. All over the country, there are schools that fail to treat girls and young women fairly with respect to athletic participation, athletics facilities, and other benefits. Not only is this unfair, it also is potentially illegal under Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination against students and employees of educational institutions. Learn about the importance of competitive sports opportunities for young women. We may take a tour of the gym, locker rooms and workout rooms at Riverland if time permits. Riverland Room C123 (Dani)

Renew friendships and commitment to equity for women and girls at our annual potluck “meet and greet.” Bring a friend and/or prospective new members to enjoy the food and fun. Prospective members come as guests of AAUW and do not need to bring anything for the potluck. (Dani)
