Science Fair Mentoring Project – The Science Fair Mentoring Project works to address barriers that prevent elementary school students from participating in the STEAM Expo (science fair) by providing student with supplies and support to complete their experiments. Since 2014, 118 3rd and 4th graders have participated in this program. Students build confidence, develop positive relationships with adults, and explored science in a fun and new way. this year, we are working with the 3rd and 4th graders at Neveln, Southgate and Banfield Elementary Schools. Also we are partnering with Austin Public Library to increase access services to all students in Austin who want to participate in the science fair. We need art supplies and volunteers to shop for supplies, mentor, or assist in other ways. If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact Catherine Haslag at cshaslag@gmail.com.
