The Science Fair Mentoring Project works to address barriers that prevent elementary school students from participating in the science fair by providing students with supplies and support to complete their experiments. Since 2014, over 1,100 3rd and 4th graders have participated in this program. A total of 365 students have received assistance from SFMP with participating in the science fair. Students build confidence, develop positive relationships with adults, and explored science in a fun and new way. This year, we are working with students at Neveln, Southgate, and Banfield Elementary Schools. We need art supplies, volunteers to help organize supplies, input data, serve as a mentor, or assist in other ways. If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact Catherine Haslag.
